MLB Standings: All Division Leaders and Team Records Entering Final Two Months of the Season

Aug 01, 2013 10:43 AM EDT

The 2013 MLB season is quickly coming to a close. There are only two months of regular season baseball left to play. Here are the standings entering the month of August as some divisions have been over taken, while other teams are preparing to separate themselves from the pack. These are all the records in all the divisions as of August 1.

A.L. East
Still considered the toughest division in baseball, the A.L. East has four teams over .500. The Toronto Blue Jays are in the cellar despite being considered the winter's winner. The Boston Red Sox are in the lead by just half a game as the Tampa Bay Rays only lost five games in the month of July. The Baltimore Orioles were a busy team during the trade deadline and they are currently sitting in fourth place, just half a game behind in the A.L. Wild Card race.

Red Sox: 65-44
Rays: 64-44/ 0.5 GB
Orioles: 59-49/ 5.5 GB
Yankees: 56-51/ 8.0 GB
Blue Jays: 50-57/ 14.0 GB

A.L. Central
It is currently the hottest division in baseball as the top three teams combined have a 20-game winning streak. The first place Detroit Tigers have won five straight. The second place Cleveland Indians are winners of seven consecutive games, while the Kansas City Royals, the hottest team in baseball, are winners of eight straight ball games. The Tigers have yet to lock up the division as they possess a slim 2.5-game lead over the Indians, whose winter pickups have proven solid as the season has progressed.

Tigers: 61-45
Indians: 59-48/ 2.5 GB
Royals: 53-51/ 7.0 GB
Twins: 45-59/ 15.0 GB
White Sox: 40-65/20.5 GB

A.L. West
This division is becoming lopsided as the weeks go by. The Texas Rangers might have salvaged their divisional hopes after winning their last three games, standing just four games back behind the first place Oakland A's. The Seattle Mariners took over third place as the Los Angeles Angels' superstars can't win a game, going on a six-game losing skid.

Athletics: 63-45
Rangers: 59-49/ 4.0 GB
Mariners: 50-57/ 12.5 GB
Angels: 48-58/ 14.0 GB
Astros: 36-70/ 26.0 GB

N.L. East
Remember when the Washington Nationals sat out their ace, Stephen Strasburg because they didn't want to risk injuring their young pitcher? Well the only thing they hindered was their chance to win a championship and the playoffs are looking mighty distant as the Atlanta Braves are running away with the division. With a double-digit 11-game lead, the Braves possess the biggest lead of any first-place team.

Braves: 63-45
Nationals: 52-56/ 11 GB
Phillies: 50-57/ 12.5 GB
Mets: 48-57/ 13.5 GB
Marlins: 41-65/ 21.0 GB

N.L. Central
What was supposed to be the most challenging week of baseball for the Pittsburgh Pirates, has turned into a part for a starved playoff city. The Pirates are winners of four straight against none other than the former first place St. Louis Cardinals, who are losers of seven straight ball games. The Pirates stood pat during the trade deadline as they are in possession of the best record in baseball.

Pirates: 65-42
Cardinals: 62-44
Reds: 60-49
Cubs: 49-58
Brewers: 46-62

N.L. West
The Los Angeles Dodgers are on fire. The team has finally gelled and it doesn't hurt having the most exciting player in baseball right now, Yasiel Puig, on your side. The Dodgers only lost six games in the month of July, sparking a run that took them all the way to first place. The Arizona Diamondbacks have yet to give up on their season as they stand 2.5 games back. Meanwhile, the defending World Series champion San Francisco Giants are now in last place, 10 games back from first.

Dodgers: 57-49
D'Backs: 55-52
Rockies: 51-58
Padres: 50-59
Giants: 47-59
