The Aaron Hernandez murder case has been a story thread that is running through New England Patriots training camp and the tight end likely will be mentioned a ton throughout the season and as all that goes on, his fiancé and girlfriend Shayanna Jenkins will have to deal with the news media and appearing in court to support her man.
According to ABC News, when Jenkins was in court for Hernandez's last appearance for a probable cause hearing, she ignored reporters when asked questions about the situation and also helped Hernandez's cousin Tanya Singleton when she was being hounded by reporters as well. The report says that Jenkins has yet to speak with victim Odin Lloyd's family about the murder or to express remorse and that she walked right by them after leaving court during the last appearance for Hernandez and has not given any words of comfort to the family.
Jenkins breezed by reporters out of the courtroom and on the way in and she has not appeared in public apart from the court proceedings and her sister Shaneah, who reportedly was dating Lloyd at the time of his death has not been in public either. Jenkins was questioned by police early on after Hernandez was brought in to speak with authorities and after initially saying to police that Lloyd was involved in drugs, Hernandez told her to stop talking on advice from his agents and she did so.
The four were connected through their love lives and Hernandez met Lloyd through Jenkins and he sister and the two were considered friends for a couple of years before things turned sour. Hernandez was arrested soon after the body of Lloyd was found in an industrial park a mile from his home and later he was released by the New England Patriots, likely ending a promising young career. Hernandez has also been dealing with the spotlight on his past at Florida and with the Patriots and he may be charged with another double murder from last year and is also facing court issues with other shooting incidents.
The Patriots and the Florida Gators have distanced themselves from Hernandez, as has the Pro Football Hall of Fame, who had a picture of his in the shrine for a photo contest. Hernandez has been painted as the orchestrator in the murder and he is tied to it through shell casings, clothing, text messages, cell phone footage, video surveillance footage and more. Police have yet to find the murder weapon but believe it is a .45 caliber, something Hernandez had ammo for. Hernandez is facing life in prison and so far he has been kept in solitary confinement for his protection and the other inmates.
Hernandez teamed with Rob Gronkowski to form a duo of young tight end studs and now he will finish his Patriots career behind bars after scoring 18 touchdowns on 175 catches. The star had a stunning fall and his past has been looked at and now the Patriots are trying to move on with their season as they try to concentrate on football and not the murder.
