It is time MLB decided what they're going to do. Maybe they're trying to punish those teams in the playoff hunt, clouding their visions right around the trade deadline. It's been more than a week since Ryan Braun was suspended and yet, MLB has yet to follow suit with the rest of the guys on the list. Time is ticking MLB, I say cut the crap and just get these guys out of here.
{PETER GAMMONS HAS FUN with A-ROD SUSPENSION}
Call it the Dwightmare of baseball in 2013, but MLB is taking too long to suspend these guys. Sources say that meetings are very private, but every day there's a new deadline. First it was Tuesday, one day before the trade deadline. Then the deadline was pushed to Thursday as stories revolved around baseball's most hated figure, Alex Rodriguez. Some said Friday, but now, reports everywhere are signaling suspensions will take place no later than Monday. Here's one source, CBS Sports' Jon Heyman.
If MLB is being so secretive, then how are these dates leaking out to the public? When Braun was suspended most fans were slapped in the face with the news. However, by now everybody should know that Rodriguez, Jhonny Peralta and Nelson Cruz, the biggest stars facing suspensions, are the players next on the list. If they are going to be suspend, then get rid of them already.
By this point, MLB has regained respect from its fans after they stubbornly pursued Braun. If they have the evidence and they want to suspend these guys for 50 games, then go Nike on them and Just Do It!
Entering Friday, the New York Yankees and Texas Rangers' playoff hopes are on the line. Rodriguez hasn't played a game with the Yankees all season long, but Cruz is a huge part of the Rangers' offense. While the Yankees' postseason hopes are slim, the Rangers are being stripped of a chance to adjust as the season winds down. They will have to figure out a lineup that will yield results as they are 3.5 games behind the first place Oakland Athletics in the A.L. West.
Prolonging the suspensions is unfair to these teams and its fans. Cut the drama and let's get on with the show guys.
