Didier Drogba is optimistic about the upcoming Champions League semi-final against the defending champion Barcelona, adding that the Chelsea striker is not worrying about the haunting incident that happened three years ago.

The 34-year-old soccer player from Ivory Cost may be playing his last season for Chelsea, and he expressed his wish to win a trophy this year.

"Last season was a bad season because I didn't win anything," said Drogba to the press.

"I hope this season will be different. I want to win trophies. It's not about it being my last year here," continued Drogba. "I just want to win trophies with Chelsea, with my team and that's the most important thing."

About the game against Barcelona, Drogba remains confident, adding that he is not worried about the haunting memory from 2009.

"It's a 50-50, even if they are said to be the best team in the world and have the best player in the world." The "best player in the world" probably refers to the 24-year-old Barcelona forward Lionel Messi.

"There are two games. Anything can happen. The last game against Barcelona] was a few years ago, so things have changed since then, added Drogba"

Chelsea and Barcelona met in the semi-final stage of Champions League back in 2009, and Barcelona was the one who moved on to the final after a controversial game. Iniesta from Barcelona scored a late goal during that game, but Chelsea believed that the referee Tom Henning Ovrebo ignored several penalty moments.

If Chelsea would have converted of those penalty opportunities, or if Iniesta did not score, then Chelsea would have played against Manchester United in the final round. After the game, Drogba yelled "it's a f***ing disgrace" in front of a camera, which got him a three-game ban.

In 2009-10, Drogba had one of his best seasons, scoring 29 goals just in the English Premier League and receiving the Golden Booth award. However, he was diagnosed with malaria and had not been up to his form after that.

However, recent games have shown that the Ivorian striker is still dangerous when he is unleashed. The first game between Chelsea and Barcelona will happen on Wednesday.
