The Detroit Pistons were one of the most active teams in the offseason and while some may not see them as completely a contender after signing Josh Smith and trading for Brandon Jennings, the team surely isn't sitting still and Joe Dumars has at least one more move to make.
According to Pro Basketball Talk, the team is looking for a backup center option for Greg Monroe on the market and while options are limited, the team can look towards Johan Petro, Cole Aldrich or Jason Collins as options to sign. Dumars said that the Jennings trade would likely be the last "big" move the team makes and after signing Peyton Siva, the team has 14 roster spots done and now needs just one more to complete the lineup.
Dumars said that Jennings will help make the team better and along with Smith the Pistons now have some legitimate scorers after dealing with some awful play over the past few seasons. The team still has Charlie Villanueva and also signed Chauncey Billups and now they need another big man. Collins hasn't had a sniff from anyone since making his historic announcement and while Aldrich and Petro don't make anyone scared in the league, they could be solid options on the bench.
Aldrich played in 45 games last season for the Kings and averaged 2.2 points and 2.7 rebounds, while Petro played in 31 games for the Hawks and averaged 3.6 rebounds and 3.5 points and Collins would be the definition of a role player, giving solid minutes after playing in 30 games for the Wizards last season.
