That's the sad news. N.O. fans will not be able to watch the live action of this game, unless they sign up and pay $19.99 for the live stream provided by NFL.com. Anyways, it's against the Chiefs, so it's not the worst news out there.
The Saints are trying to compete in 2013. Drew Brees is hoping they can bounce back from a rough 2012 season. The Saints were close in the first four games of the season, but they went 0-4. They finally won a game against the San Diego Chargers and following that horrid start, the Saints finished the season 7-5. Until the last weeks of football, the Saints were still in the playoff race. They finished the season 7-9 and in third place in the NFC South.
The Saints will look to get more production from their running game. They had Mark Ingram take the heavy workload, racking up 602 yards and five touchdowns in 156 carries. Pierre Thomas continued to play his role as the power back going for 473 yards in 105 attempts, while only entering the end zone once in 2013. Brees has a pretty talented receiving group as Lance Moore, Marques Colston and Jimmy Graham combined for over 3,000 receiving yards and totaled 25 touchdowns.
They face off against a Chiefs team that is drastically trying to improve. They once played in an AFC West that was up for grabs, but now, with the emergence of Denver Broncos, thanks to Peyton Manning, it will be a long time before the Chiefs are favored to win the division. They went 2-14 last season as they struggled to get any decent contributions from their quarterbacks.
Matt Cassel and Brady Quinn split the season behind center in Kansas City. The quarterback position is definitely a position the Chiefs will have to address in 2013. Cassell and Quinn combined for eight touchdowns, 20 interceptions and 40 sacks. The upside to their season was watching Jamaal Charles run the ball. He went for 1,509 yards on 285 rushing attempts. Charles had more running attempts than then entire Chiefs' receivers had catches. That describes the team's season.
Don't miss the live action of this matchup as the Saints and Chiefs look to complete their opening day roster as the regular season is less than a month away.
