The NFL preseason has been underway after games on Thursday and now Friday brings a number of new teams in action, including the Patriots, Eagles, Lions, Jets, Cardinals, Packers, Jaguars, Dolphins, Texans and Cowboys, who are playing in California up north against the Raiders in Oakland.
The Dolphins are coming into the season with some high expectations after spending big in the offseason and with Ryan Tannehill coming into year two in the league, head coach Joe Philbin will be looking for those developmental strides in his quarterback. Tannehill was without a few weapons last season that he has now and after bringing in wideout Mike Wallace the team also re-signed Brian Hartline and gave Lamar Miller the starting running back job.
Miller is one of the fastest players in the NFL and after losing Reggie Bush to the Detroit Lions, the team will need someone to step up and take over and Miller is going to get that chance. This is the first action for the Dolphins since losing to the Cowboys at the Pro Football Hall of Fame Game and they will face the Texans on the road in Week 2 of the preseason before playing against another Florida team in the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Dolphins feel they have a chance to pounce on the Patriots as they are dealing with the losses of Wes Welker and Aaron Hernandez and the division could be up for grabs depending on how things shake out.
The Jags are trying to rebound from a 2-14 season with Blaine Gabbert coming back and the team is looking hopeful after the draft netted them some talent. The team drafted Luke Joeckel as well as Denard Robinson and Ace Sanders and the franchise feels that things are trending upwards, Tim Tebow playing for them or not.
