David Moyes will look towards a first trophy under his reign as Manchester United manager when the English Premier League champions take on Wigan Athletic in the Community Shield at Wembley Sunday.
Moyes has so far made an underwhelming start to his career as United manager, with United failing to convince in preseason and the Wayne Rooney saga also not helping one bit.
However, a win over Wigan will smooth things a bit ahead of the start of the Premier League campaign next weekend.
"It's a really important fixture because it's the start of the season for us," Moyes told MUTV. "Obviously the Premier League season starts next weekend but this is the first real serious game of note, albeit it is still in preseason, but there is a trophy at stake.
"I think Wigan will be one of the sides pushing to get back in the Premier League again. They had a great start in their first Championship match against Barnsley so it will be a tough game. They won last time they went to Wembley so we have got to make sure we do a good job and stop them this time.
"This football club is used to winning trophies and we will do everything we can to make sure we win another."
Veteran defender Rio Ferdinand, who just had his testimonial a couple of days back at Old Trafford, is also looking forward to making an impression against Wigan at Wembley.
"The team is feeling good, we have been training really hard and it has been a tough preseason physically, but we have enjoyed it and we've had a really good time," Ferdinand told the club's official website.
"Now, we are looking forward to getting into the games and the nitty gritty. It's the first trophy of the season and we'd like to win it.
