The Washington Redskins are coming into the season with very high expectations after making the playoffs in 2012 and winning the NFC East over the Cowboys, Giants and Eagles and with Robert Griffin III coming back from a serious knee injury, a lot will be riding on his shoulders.
According to Pro Football Talk, head coach Mike Shanahan is preparing to increase the workload for Griffin in practice, although he likely will not play in the preseason. Griffin has said that he is ready to get back into regular action and according to Mike Jones of the Washington Post, Griffin took 53 of the 70 snaps in the Redskins walkthrough and that could mean he is ready to do more this preseason as the schedule moves along.
The Redskins play the Packers next and while Griffin likely will not play, he should be doing more 11-on-11 drills in practice and that should help him get his knee fully healed in time for the regular season. Last season the team went 10-6 and won the division before losing to Russell Wilson and the Seattle Seahawks and now the team will try and win the division for a second year in a row. The team ranked 20th in passing yards and first un rushing and Griffin is expected to be back at full strength this season.
The Redskins started off with a 22-21 win over the Titans and will play against the Pittsburgh Steelers next before playing the Buffalo Bills and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
