The Detroit Red Wings had a rough start to the season after the lockout last year, but after coming on late in the season they kept their record-playoff streak alive and although they were defeated by the Chicago Blackhawks in a great comeback after being up 3-2, the team feels it is ready to make another Stanley Cup run.
This offseason the front office has made a number of small moves and they have done another one this past week, re-signing center Joakim Andersson to a two-year deal. According to ESPN.com, terms were not announced and now the team will retain the 24-year-old after he was a restricted free agent and the team feels that he will be a solid contributor going forward over the next two seasons.
The Red Wings got solid production from the Swedish player last season, as he appeared in 38 games and scored three goals with five assists and he also played in 14 postseason games. He played much more consistently last season after appearing in just five games the previous year and now the Red Wings are hoping that he can develop into a scoring threat on offense.
