The Cleveland Indians and Minnesota Twins hook up for a three-game set. MLB.TV will provide the action online as it is the MLB Free Game of the Day. Watch as young guns hook up this evening as these two A.L. Central teams play at 8:10 p.m. ET.
On the hill will be the Indians' young righty, Danny Salazar. Though he surrendered four earned runs against the Detroit Tigers in his second career MLB game pitched, Salsazar turned heads as he struckout 10 Tigers in 7.2 innings pitched. He took the no-decision, remaining 1-0 in 2013.
If Salazar looks like he is inexperienced, the Twins' starter, Andrew Albers takes home the prize. Albers is making his second MLB start at the age of 27. Salazar is younger, recently turning 23, but he already has two MLB starts in the books. Albers, however, should be a tough matchup despite not having much time in the majors. In his first career start, Albers completely shut down the Kansas City Royals. He went 8.1 innings, allowing just four hits, a walk while recording two strikeouts. It was a truly impressive performance and now, the Twins hope he can duplicate the results against the Indians.
For both the Indians and the Twins, the playoffs are in question. The Indians are in second place and have a better chance of catching the first place Tigers, but they are seven games back in the standings. The Twins aren't even playing .500 baseball, posting a 52-63 record. They are in fourth place and 16.5 games behind the Tigers. Unless an absolute debacle takes place, it looks as though the Tigers will once again win the division.
