Arsenal Transfer News: Danny Mills Puzzled By Liverpool Manager Rodgers' Demand for Apology from Luis Suarez

Former England international Danny Mills cannot quite understand why Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers had demanded an apology from unhappy forward Luis Suarez.

Rodgers has made Suarez train alone after questioning his commitment to Liverpool's cause following the player's public outburst on the club having gone back on their word to let him go to a Champions League club this summer.

Arsenal are waiting in the wings to snap up the talented yet controversial Uruguayan, but Rodgers insists Suarez is not for sale and will only be integrated back to the squad once he apologizes to the club, fans and teammates for his perceived lack of respect.

Mills, though, cannot see how Suarez and his agent can be making things up and believes the player has no need to tender an apology.

"I'm not quite sure what apology Brendan Rodgers wants," Mills told Sky Sports News Radio.

"He said he wants to leave. He believes there's a clause that's been triggered in that contract. I can't for the life of me believe that Luis Suarez and his agent are making that up."

Rodgers, meanwhile, maintained his stance on Suarez and hopes the issue can be "resolved amicably."

"It is something that we have to do everything we can to fix," Rodgers said.

"There has been a lot said and a lot reported, and we have made a stance, as a club and as a manager, of the commitment and the standards required.

"If you don't have that commitment, and those standards, then you won't play. It's as simple as that.

"If we have got to sit and wait, then so be it. But this is a club that has got great values, and we hope that the situation can be resolved amicably, and I am sure it will be.

"There's no problem between me and him, it is quite calm. But obviously, I have got to respect the club and the team.

"It doesn't matter who you are, if they're not pulling their weight then they are letting down the club, the city and everyone who has stood by them.

"So until I get that assurance that we are going to get nothing but 100 per cent commitment, then there will be no solution."
