The report says that the government seized a number of items from him, including guns, money, the $822,000 found when he was captured as well as other pieces, but he wants the ring back. The Boston Globe reports that he waived his right for "a jury's decision on whether he could keep the cash, guns and other personal possessions" and now he will try and get the ring anyway.

The ring was likely given to him through various connections to Chris "Knuckles" Nilan and is for the 1986 win by the Montreal Canadiens in the Stanley Cup Finals. Nilan played in 72 games for the team that season and spent 13 years in the NHL and the report says that is who likely gave Bulger the ring. According to ESPN.com, "The ring remains in the government's possession and is property that falls into a category eligible to be permanently seized, the report said."
