Manchester United Transfer Rumors: United Officials in Spain to Complete Luka Modric Transfer?

Manchester United officials have landed in Spain in a bid to manufacture a move for Real Madrid midfielder Luka Modric.

United manager David Moyes is desperate to add a midfielder to his ranks and having failed in multiple bids to land Cesc Fabregas from Barcelona, has turned his attentions to former Tottenham man Modric.

Manchester United officials have reportedly flown to Spain and a report on ESPN suggests it could be to advance a deal for Modric.

United are thought to be planning an opening bid of £25 million ($39 million) for the Croatian international, who could not quite make his mark in his first season with Real Madrid.

Real Madrid, who are looking to fund a world record move for Gareth Bale from Tottenham, could be ready to offload Modric, but it remains to be seen at what price.

United have also been linked with Newcastle midfielder Yohan Cabaye, while Moyes' former player Marouane Fellaini remains an option.

Meanwhile, Jonny Evans has given his backing to United buying either of Cristiano Ronaldo or Gareth Bale before the transfer window closes in a couple of weeks.

Ronaldo has been linked with a move back to Old Trafford for a while now, while United have emerged as candidates to rival Real for Bale.

"I would take either of them, they are great players -- I don't think anyone would say no to that," Evans said.

"But there is a lot that goes on behind the scenes, but as players we read it like everyone else in the papers.

"We don't really have inside info, we don't really speak to the chief exec or manager and ask what is going on, so we don't really know what is going on behind the scenes -- obviously Ronaldo had a great reception last term and feels at home at the club, and he will have feelings for the club."
