The Denver Broncos are entering the 2013 with very high expectations after winning the AFC West with the number one seed in the conference, but there has been some offseason trouble, with Elvis Dumervil's agent paperwork snafu and now Von Miller has found himself in trouble again.
The star linebacker was hit with a four-game suspension earlier in the year for violating the league's substance-abuse policy and now, according to ESPN.com, Miller was arrested on Sunday after having an outstanding traffic warrant. Miller is one of the top young linebackers in the league and he is facing an appeal for his suspension and the Broncos sure could use it to get overturned.
Miller's arrest came on Sunday at the Centennial Gun Club, according to the report, and the team confirmed that it happened there. Miller was taken in for not appearing in court after he was charged with "careless driving, driving without a license and no proof of insurance" back in October. Miller was released on bond and will have a court date for December. The team is entering the season with Super Bowl aspirations after losing to the Ravens last year and they went 13-3 while winning their division.
The Broncos ranked fifth in passing yards and 16th in rushing yards per game and are coming off a win in their opening preseason game with a 10-6 victory over the San Francisco 49ers. The team ranked third in passing and rushing yards per game last season and a very big part of that was Miller.
"We have been aware of the matter involving Von Miller's failure to appear in court for traffic violations," the team said in a statement. "It was reported to the league earlier this week and is being handled through the legal system."
