The Chicago Bears are heading into a very important season for the franchise after ditching longtime coach Lovie Smith for new head Marc Trestman and as he tries to overhaul the offense, one of the biggest beneficiaries is likely to be Jay Cutler and running back Matt Forte.
The team opened the season with a preseason loss to the Carolina Panthers 24-17 after an early interception from Jay Cutler and now the team is hoping for a win as they take on the Chargers in an early production on Monday Night Football on Thursday night in week 2. The team will next play the Raiders on Friday in Week 3 and then will play the Cleveland Browns in Week 4 of the preseason to finish off their early schedule.
The team opens with two home games at Soldier Field, playing the Cincinnati Bengals to open the year before playing the Minnesota Vikings in Week 2 in an early divisional game. The Vikes made it into the playoffs over the Bears last season despite 10 wins from Chicago and they will play a road game no Sunday night against the Steelers in Week 3 before playing the Detroit Lions on the road in Week 4. The Saints visit in Week 5 before the team plays the New York Football Giants in week six on Thursday night football and that comes before another NFC East matchup.
The team will visit the Redskins the next week in Washington on FOX before having their bye week and that will take them into their first game against the Green Bay Packers in Week 9. The team will play the Lions again the following week before hosting the champion Baltimore Ravens and that comes before two straight road games. The team will play the Rams before travelling to play the Vikings again and that game sets up the rest of the schedule, as the team finishes with the Dallas Cowboys on Monday Night football in Week 14 before their final three games.
The Bears travel to play the Cleveland Browns and then they will have a matchup with the Philadelphia Eagles also on the road to finish off the NFC East. The final game will be at home against the Green Bay Packers and that could end up being a game that decides the NFC North this season. The Bears are hoping for an MVP season from Cutler and to make the playoffs they will need it in a tough division and conference.
