Oakland Raiders Rumors: Charles Woodson Compares Aaron Rodgers to Alex Rodriguez After Greg Jennings, Donald Driver Bash QB, Defends Ex-Teammate

There has been a lot of news surrounding quarterback Aaron Rodgers and none of it has to do with his abilities on the football field. Greg Jennings got the ball rolling by claiming the Green Bay quarterback was more concerned about himself and the spotlight over the team. Donald Driver only added gas to the fire by neither confirming nor denying Jennings' statements. However, one former Green Bay player is in Rodgers corner as Raiders defender Charles Woodson is supporting his old teammate.

"It might be a receiver thing," Woodson said via ESPNWisconsin.com

Could it be? Both Jennings and Driver are not exactly saying they are Rodgers biggest fan. Woodson is not about the bashing of former teammates.

"I just don't understand.. . . I think A-Rod would consider these guys his friends, so for stuff like this to be coming out about him now that the guys are gone, it's got to be hurtful to him because what are they talking about, to question his leadership ability, his leadership skills? The guy is one of the best players in the NFL, and I think he does a great job as far as leading them into battle," Woodson said.

Specifically, Driver made the latest comments claiming that Rodgers would never step up and take the heat for the team, instead making other players step up and take the mistake. He believed leadership was taking one for the team. Driver insisted that Rodgers was a good guy, but he needed to remember to stay humble.

Rodgers has remained quiet on the entire situation saying that comments from players no longer relevant to the team just go in one ear and out the other. Woodson believes that speaks to his leadership qualities the most. He compared the quarterback to Alex Rodriguez who is handling a swirl of negativity around him.

"I just think the best thing that A-Rod does, he's been able to keep a lot of things from getting to him," Woodson said. "The way he came in following a legend and handled those pressures, his ability to be a steady guy throughout that time and then going out and performing at the level he performed, that shows leadership. And he's continued to get better. Every player should look at him and say, 'Here's a guy who's really on top of the world, and he's trying to get better. That's what I think is so hard to understand about what [Jennings and Driver] said."

Woodson admits that he is bitter towards the Packers. The team fired him and the veteran thinks about that a lot, but he is not about to start trash talking a team where he made his career.
