Highest-Paid Soccer Players 2012: David Beckham Again Tops Forbes Top 10 List

Forbes has released their latest annual list of the world's highest-paid soccer players, with David Beckham remaining at No. 1.

The list reinforces the incredible brand that Beckham that has created off the pitch over the years, despite having not played in a major European league for over five years and no longer competing in international soccer.

Unsurprisingly, the rest of the top 10 is made up with players from the two richest leagues--the English Premier League and Spain's La Liga.

Despite their poor form for large parts of the season, it is clear that Chelsea continue to be one of the biggest spenders as they lead the way with three players on the list.

Perhaps surprisingly given their lack of a success as a nation in international soccer, England has the most players of any nation in the top 10, with five. A fact that could be seen as reinforcing the opinion that the reputations of England's players exceeds their ability on the pitch.
