The brand-new 24-hour network Fox Sports 1 will debut on Saturday and one of the most anticipated programs on the schedule will be "FOX Sports Live", the nightly highlights and news show that will go directly up against "SportsCenter" on ESPN.
Fox made a bold move to hire anchors Jay Onrait and Dan O'Toole from TSN in Canada and over the years they have received some rave reviews from their work hosting "SportsCentre". Many in the media have characterized the duo in comparison with Keith Olbermann and Dan Patrick when they hosted "SportsCenter" in the 90s and that is a mighty compliment, as they are considered one of the best pairs to do the show. Fox has repeatedly stressed that their programming will be more "fun" than the other channels out there and the program with Onrait and O'Toole on the first day will likely be the most watched one of the day.
The company has brought in a number of high-profile athletes and on-air talent, including Bill Raftery, Gary Payton, Andy Roddick and Donovan McNabb as well. The network will air a number of different sports, including baseball, college football, UFC events and NASCAR among others. Fox will also have golf coverage and will also have a show centered around Regis Philbin and ESPN has made some interesting countermoves, bringing back Olbermann, signing Jason Whitlock and also signing Nate Silver.
Here are some highlights from Jay Onrait and Dan O'Toole from the Canadian show SportsCentre.
