The St. Louis Cardinals are locked into a tight division race with the Pittsburgh Pirates and now the team is getting one of its best players back, as Yadier Molina was activated off the disabled list and now the All-Star will be back in action.

According to ESPN.com, the team activated him after dealing with a knee sprain and now the MVP candidate appears to be fully healthy after the flare up in his right leg. The report also says that prospect Oscar Taveras will be out for the rest of the season after dealing with an ankle sprain and now he will undergo surgery before he was able to make his major league debut this season, which was the plan.

Molina is back in the starting lineup for the team after hitting .330 to lead the National League and he come back after Tony Cruz started 11 games in his absence and he is now going on the DL. The 21-year-old Taveras will now have to recover to get ready for spring training next season and general manager John Mozeliak said it was the best move after his ankle was not healing up as fast.

Last season he was Texas League player of year while playing in Double-A, batting .321 with 23 home runs, 94 RBIs and 10 steals and this season he has played in 46 games and was hitting .306 with five home runs and 32 RBIs. The young prospect dealt with two different ankle injuries this season and has not been playing since July. The Cardinals are locked in a division race and are 68-51 on the season and are chasing the Pirates in the NL Central.
