The Washington Redskins made a surprise run to the playoffs last season behind Robert Griffin III and this year a number of players should put up good numbers, including RG3, Alfred Morris, Pierre Garcon, Santana Moss and maybe even Kirk Cousins.
RG3 should perform best and he could clear over 500 rushing and 3,000 passing yards with 25 total touchdowns, while Morris will try to follow up his 1,600 yard season with more. Santana Moss and Garcon should put up great numbers as Griffin starts working better in the offense with a full offseason under his belt and the defense should be improved as well. The Redskins have the chance to do some damage in fantasy this year and Griffin will be the top performer again as a dual threat quarterback.
Here is information from the second week of the preseason. The NFL preseason is continuing into Week 2 on Friday night and some of the top games includes the Tampa Bay Buccaneers visiting the New England Patriots and that game will appear on FOX as a national broadcast, which comes before two more nationally televised games later in the season against the Bucs again and the Saints, both of which are at home.
The rest of the games this week include the San Francisco 49ers and the Kansas City Chiefs and that game is filled with intrigue as well, as quarterback Alex Smith will be facing his old team for the first time since being traded. Smith was dealt from the 49ers after Colin Kaepernick took over the starting job and the Chiefs had to give up a second round pick, but Andy Reid felt that was the best way to turn the team around after going just 2-14 last year.
The Chiefs had the number one overall pick and took Eric Fisher and now they have added Smith to an offense that has Branden Albert on the line as well as Dwayne Bowe at receiver and a 1,500 yard rusher in Jamaal Charles that really can be explosive. The Chiefs have the chance to be the team that turns around the most from last season and they could even make the playoffs depending on the way the season goes and Smith plays. The 49ers are content to go with the hot hand in Kaepernick for the future and the team knows it has to make up for Michael Crabtree's injury, but with Anquan Boldin coming over in a trade, things should be okay.
The Minnesota Vikings and the Buffalo Bills will play on Friday night as well as the Bills are coming in after defeating the Indianapolis Colts handily last week. The team will start Kevin Kolb this week and head coach Doug Marrone is looking for him to step up to win the starting job as a veteran. Manuel has looked good this summer, but the Bills still may want to start Kolb instead at the beginning of the season. Adrian Peterson likely won't have much to do and with Christian Ponder struggling last week in their opening loss, head coach Leslie Frazier is going to be looking for improvement.
One of the most intriguing matchups is the Oakland Raiders playing the New Orleans Saints and the team will be in action for the first time since defeating the Cowboys last week. New quarterback Matt Flynn didn't set the world on fire, but the team is ready to had him the reigns and they hope that the offense can be more productive than it was last season. The Saints had no problems passing the ball, but like the Raiders they had issues running it.
