The Redskins are coming off a tight win against the Tennessee Titans. It might only be the preseason, but there was already some drama in this close game that wrapped up 22-21 in favor of Washington. Pat White, a second year quarterback out of West Virginia, took it to the house with five minutes remaining. He finished the evening with only 31 yards passing, but had five carries for 33 yards and the game-winning nine-yard touchdown.
Rex Grossman and Kirk Cousins provided a 1-2 punch at the quarterback position. In case RG3 goes down again, the Redskins should continue their season confidently. Grossman went a decent 10/21 with 119 yards and a touchdown, while Cousins was very efficient, going 6/7 for 52 yards and a touchdown.
News in Washington is that RG3 participated in 11 on 11 drills, signaling a return is imminent. Though this may seem like great news, some around the NFL feel the Washington should change their gameplan if they truly intend on keeping RG3 on the field for years to come. However, don't be distracted by the gossip, the Redskins infested too much on their quarterback. They learned their lesson and will not place RG3 back on the field unless he's 100 percent.
The Steelers witnessed Victor Cruz's wrath as they were beaten 18-13 by the New York Giants. Somehow, the Steelers' secondary fell asleep, allowing Cruz to get behind them. A blink of an eye later, the Giants' salsa dancing receiver was in the end zone for the score after a 57-yard run. The Steelers defense regained its composure late in the game as they picked up a fumble and ran it in for the score, but the offense couldn't get anything going.
The Steelers depended on field goals to get them on the board. Shaun Shuisham had two field goals, which accounted for all of the Steelers' offense in Week 1.
