The Oakland Raiders made a number of draft picks on offense in April and one of those picks will be out of action for a bit after surgery, as Latavius Murray underwent arthroscopic surgery and likely will miss the rest of the preseason.
According to the Mercury News, Murray had surgery after getting injured against the Dallas Cowboys in their preseason game on August 9 and coach Dennis Allen said that he likely would miss the rest of the preseason. Murray was selected along with Nick Kasa, Menelik Watson, Brice Butler and Mychal Rivera on offense and now he will likely be behind Rashad Jennings on the depth chart when the season begins.
Allen did not say how long Murray would be out, but it is likely that he will miss the rest of the preseason and could return for the Week 1 game in September. The team now has to figure out its roster moves and they could place him on IR that allows him to return or they could try and stash him somewhere else to not use a roster spot on him.
Per the report: "Teams are permitted to use the I.R./designated to return once per season. If the Raiders cut Murray on the final cutdown day Aug. 31, other teams would have 24 hours to claim Murray on waivers before the Raiders could sign Murray to their practice squad."
