There will be more football on ESPN as the defending Super Bowl champions put their perfect 2-0 preseason record on the line against the 1-1 Panthers. Though it's only exhibition, the Ravens are playing as if it were still the postseason. They are averaging 35.5 points in their first two games and their offense hasn't even put up a great deal of yardage, but they are finding their way into the end zone.
Tyrod Taylor, the third year back out of Virginia Tech, has thrown four touchdowns along with 237 yards and only one interception. Aside from passing, Taylor has rushed for 42 yards in 10 carries. Joe Flacco has been on a tear, completing 14 of 18 passes for a 77.8 percent completing percentage. He's gone for 175 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions so far in the preseason.
For the Panthers, they weren't able to get past the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 2's preseason meeting. They depended on their kickers to get three field goals through the uprights. Cam Newton had a disappointing outing, completing only 8/17 passes for 112 yards. Derek Anderson impressed with a 7/11 performance for 78 yards. David Gettis had a big game, catching five passes for 82 yards, but it wasn't enough to get the Panthers in the end zone.
Speaking of receiving, Torrey Smith has been on fire. He caught a 77-yard pass that helped him total 85 in the Ravens' game against the Atlanta Falcons. With Anquan Boldin now in San Francisco, Smith is aware that Flacco will depend on him greatly coming into their 2013 season.
