From Great to Worst, Michael Jordan's Bobcats Avoid 23rd Straight Loss

Michael Jordan is globally known as one of the best NBA player to ever play the game of basketball.  As owner of the Charlotte Bobcats, his reputation could face an embarrassing moment of being the worst team in NBA history.

After 22 consecutive losses, the Bobcats are looking to avoid their 23rd in their final game of the season against the New York Knicks.  If they lose, the team will go into the record books owning a .106 winning percentage and winning the dubious title in the win-loss record category.

In an interview with the Charlotte Obsever, Jordan spoke about the difficulties that his team expected this season.

"But did we want to chase the most pingpong balls (in the May 30 draft lottery)? No way," Jordan told the newspaper. "Ever since I've owned the team I think we've made some very positive moves on the business side. We had to make a difficult decision to turn over the talent. This year the talent we had didn't respond, but that doesn't cause me to turn my back on the plan."

"My success will be judged differently," Jordan told the paper. "I've come to accept I'll be scrutinized more than any other owner. I know now that I have to have a tough skin about these things."

The last team to finish with the worst record in history was the Philadelphia 76ers who had a .110 winning percentage in the 1972-1973 season.  Though the Bobcats played through a shortened season, their record may not have been better at a staggering 7- wins 58 losses.

One thing the Bobcats can be sure of is that they will not own the longest losing streak in NBA history.  That currently belongs to the 2010-2011 Cleveland Cavaliers who lost 26 in a row.

Bobcat's coach  Paul Silas will do his best to avoid being tagged as the coach of history's worst NBA team.

"If we get a win it will be the best thing that has happened to us all season," said Silas.

Some good news may come out of the season as the team will be under teh salary cap by more than $20 million.  That would mean the Bobcats could sign some good talent during free agency.  They would also have a 25% chance of getting the number one pick in the NBA draft.  Their next game with the New York Knicks can determine the team's fate.  As the Knicks have secured their playoff spot , it may be likely that the starters will not play.  That increases the Bobcats chances of a victory.
