The Boston Red Sox are locked in a division race with the Tampa Bay Rays and with a 77-55 record they are just 1.5 games ahead in the American League East, making every game against the rival Baltimore Orioles even more important, especially after the team went on a nice run.
The Red Sox are coming into the game with some confidence after winning a series from the Los Angeles dodgers, which was clinched with an 8-1 win on Sunday and now the team will host Baltimore, a team that is also chasing in the division, although a bit farther back at five games. The Orioles need to keep winning for any chance at making the playoffs and clearly the Rays will be rooting for Baltimore on Tuesday night.
