The Boston Celtics are in rebuilding mode after offloading Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce and Jason Terry to the Brooklyn Nets and while Rajon Rondo has been mentioned in trade talks, names like Jared Sullinger, Kris Humphries, Gerald Wallace, Brandon Bass and Jeff Green are the ones that are likely to move this season.
According to Bleacher Report, along with Vitor Faverani and Kelly Olynyk, the Celtics have too many players up front and that is why they speculate that one, two or all of them could be traded this season by Danny Ainge. The team is still looking at Chris Wilcox as an option and that would be another player added to the mix and with the roster the way it is, trades are very likely and options could include the Houston Rockets, Chicago Bulls and LA Lakers.
The Celtics have no real reason not to trade the players and since the roster can only hold so much at those positions based on how many minutes they will play, it is likely that some will be traded. The Celtics pulled off the deal after losing Doc Rivers to the Clippers in a trade and then they decided to make the move with the Nets and now at least Humphries or Wallace will be there until September and they also have to keep Greene until the 15th of October.
Either way, deals could happen down the line and before the NBA deadline and Ainge will have time to work on those deals before it happens. Wallace is overpaid and isn't very efficient and while Humphries is a double-double machine, the Celtics can live without him. Hump has a one year, $11 million deal, while Wallace is owed $30 million and Bass has two years and $13 million and that could make some deals hard.
Omer Asik, Marcin Gortat and Anderson Varejao all have been mentioned on trading blocks and they could be options in a deal as well. Asik is just 27 and does not want to play behind Dwight Howard and he averaged a double double last season and could be a very interesting option. Despite his headlines for his marriage to Kim Kardashian, Humphries is a banger and a solid player who averaged 13.8 points and 11 rebounds two years ago and is a consistent double-double threat. He was one of the best big men in the league and ranked high in rebounding among players at his position and despite not playing much in the playoffs with the Nets, he could be a nice fit for a number of teams down low.
