The South Carolina Gamecocks are coming into the 2013 season with very high expectations after going 11-2 last year and the team will open the NCAA college football season against their rivals in North Carolina at 6 PM on ESPN and Jadeveon Clowney will get his first chance to play since his tattoo of a hit on Michigan last year.
Clowney is being looked at as a potential Heisman candidate as a defensive player and after being a beast last season he is considered to be the top overall pick when he comes out for the NFL at the end of the season and the team is coming back after going 6-2 in the SEC and as the number six ranked team in the nation they will be looking to get started with a victory. Steve Spurrier is looking to have a great season with the team and the last time the two teams played each other as Carolina rivals was back in 2006 and that was a win for the Gamecocks as well.

The team is looking to get started with a fast offense and a punishing defense and the Gamecocks have gone 11-2 the past two years and feel they have more in them this season. The team plays in the toughest conference in the SEC and now Clowney will have all the attention from offensive lines in every single game he plays the rest of the season. The Tar Heels will be ready with Bryn Renner at quarterback and he has been prolific in his career, throwing for over 50 scores the past two seasons and South Caronia will need to watch out for the big plays.
Clowney was injured during the summer and Spurrier thought he might not be able to be ready for the first game of the season, but so far he is ready. South Carolina comes into the season after having one of the best defenses in the nation last year, averaging 18 points allowed per game, ranked 13th in the league, while the offense put up over 30 per game, but now they will be without Marcus Lattimore, the leading rusher from last season.
The first game of the season for South Carolina will be on ESPN and so will its second game against Georgia. The game can be watched on WatchESPN and the next game against the Georgia Bulldogs will be one ESPN on Saturday and their third game will also be on ESPN and ESPN 2 possibly. The team is playing Georgia before heading home to play Vanderbilt and after that they will travel to play UCF on the road before coming home and starting off with some tough SEC battles again.
The schedule has Arkansas followed by Tennessee, Missouri and Mississippi State and that leads into a very important game against the Florida Gators that may end up deciding the division or even a spot in the championship game. The team will play Coastal Carolina next before another huge matchup to end the season against now number eight Clemson and that could have BCS implications as well.
