The fantasy football season is almost ready to start and after a very eventful preseason and offseason with training camps and practices, players are finally ready to get on the field for some meaningful games and as the season is ready to start Thursday, Le'Veon Bell, Rob Gronkowski, Kenbrell Thompkins, Eddie Lacy and Montee Ball are all players to keep an eye on.
Each of the players mentioned have certain issues around them that could make them fantasy stars at some point, but right now it's up in the air. For both Bell and Gronkowski, it's injuries that owners should watch out for, while players like Ball and Lacy are rookies that could get some solid playing time, but veterans and other players on the roster could start over them for each of their teams. Thompkins is an interesting player as well and he could be a nice sleeper for the Patriots after what has hapepend to them this offseason.
The Patriots and Tom Brady are likely to be a high powered offense even without Wes Welker and Aaron Hernandez and the size and speed of Thomkins could be a huge boost in the offense. Danny Amendola will take over for Welker and Thompkins could be a big play threat for the team and a deep sleeper in leagues with at least 12 teams. The Patriots like using their wide receivers around the field and depending on what happens with Rob Gronkowski, someone will have to make up for that production.
Ball was being looked at as a starter for the Broncos, but the team may use Ronnie Hillman more at first, but he is definitely an option to look at in drafts and depending on how Hillman plays, Ball could get some serious carries. Ball was prolific in college and he could be a producer in the NFL, especially with the passing game being so dominant and he should have the chance to catch balls out of the backfield as well.
Eddie Lacy on the Packers is in the same situation along with rookie Jonathan Franklin, as the team has Alex Green and James Starks now that DuJuan Harris is out for the year. Lacy could be the second man up depending on how the start of the season goes and he could be a rookie of the year candidate as the Packers try and add a running game to their already fast offense.
Bell is out with a foot injury and the bruising back was expected to come in and be the starter right away as a second round pick. Bell will be out for at least six weeks and so far all reports have the injury healing well and after he starred at Michigan State, he looks ready to play in the NFL.
