The NFL preseason can be a strange thing, as fans want their teams to win, but since the games are technically "meaningless" does it even matter who wins and who loses as long as your team gets through it healthy?
A 4-0 record is a promising sign for a team in the preseason and an 0-4 record is a troubling one right? Well, kind of. Two examples highlight how the preseason can be a trick. The Detroit Lions had a 4-0 record in the preseason in 2008, but then they ended up losing all 16 games and were 0-16 for the first time in history. Another example but on the flip side are the Colts, who went 1-3 in the preseason the year they won the Super Bowl.
This season the Washington Redskins were the only team to go undefeated, coming in with a 4-0 record, while the Atlanta Falcons were the only team to go 0-4 in the preseason. For both of these teams, success or failure in the preseason doesn't mean they won't be successful in the regular season, but going 0-4 surely doesn't help.
The Redskins have enough on their plate with just dealing with RG3 and his injuries and after going to the playoffs last season as NFC East champs, the team will be anticipating the playoffs once again.
