The NFL preseason is now officially over after the entire league played on Thursday night and while the standings don't mean much for teams heading into the season, some records could be a preview of what the club has to offer in 2013, and if that is true, the Redskins are looking good while the Falcons and Steelers could be in trouble.
The NFC East was won by the team that actually won it last season in the Washington Redskins and they went 4-0 this preseason without even having RG3 in the lineup at all. The team went 4-0 ahead of the Philadelphia Eagles in the division and behind the Eagles are the Cowboys, who went 2-3 in five games after defeating the Miami Dolphins in the Hall of Fame game in Canton. The Giants finished last in the division at 1-3 and lost their final game against the New England Patriots after dropping the third game to the Jets in overtime.
The Lions went 3-1 to "win" the NFC North after a disappointing 2012 campaign, while the Chicago Bears went 2-2 in the preseason ahead of both Green Bay and Minnesota, who went 1-3 over their four games. The NFC South was competitive with the Panthers and Saints going 3-1, while the Tampa Bay Bucs went 1-3 and the Falcons went 0-4. Does that mean trouble for the Falcons? Possibly, but probably not, as the Lions went 0-4 once...and then went 0-16 in the regular season.
Seattle looked dominant at 4-0 and Arizona and San Francisco also looked good after going 3-1 and the Rams went just 1-3. The Jets ended up 3-1 somehow but the press made it feel like 0-9, while the Patriots also finished 3-1 and the rest of the division in Buffalo and Miami had two wins. The Bengals and Browns went 3-1, while the Ravens went 2-2 and the Steelers went 0-4.
The Texans went 3-1 over the Colts at 2-2, while Jacksonville and Tennessee went 1-3 in the South. The Chiefs and Broncos went 2-2, while the Raiders went 1-3 and the Chargers also went 1-3 out in the AFC West.
