Serena Williams and Sloane Stephens are two of the best American women's players in the world and for the second time at a Grand Slam this year they are playing against one another and Williams took the early lead in the match by winning the first set 6-4 after some tough rallies and solid serving on both sides and Williams won to advance after an easy second set.

Williams has been on a fantastic streak since losing at the French Open last summer and has won eight times on Tour this year and she comes into the US Open as defending champion and the number one seed, while Stephens is seeded 15th. Williams defeated Yaroslava Shvedova to advance into the fourth round, while Stephens defeated Jamie Hampton to advance. Stephens is facing an American for the second round in a row by playing Williams and the relationship between the two has been a rivalry for some time, especially after Stephens defeated Williams at the Aussie Open.

Stephens whined a bit in the media about Williams and her behavior after the match and also on social media and now the two get to face off at a major again. Williams said she was excited for the match and after playing late into the night in the previous round, she took some extra rest to get ready and now the two are playing again and Stephens is glad it's in a Slam, as she is 15-3 this season and playing much better in majors than other tournament.

Williams and Stephens have played just twice, with each player winning once and now the most anticipated match for the women's side on the draw is a fourth round match between two Americans and Williams will try avoiding letting things get to a third set. The match is a meeting of two of the brightest stars in American tennis, one obviously older and way more successful and established compared to the rising star and now they can look forward to their next potential matchup.
