The US Open is back in action after the holiday weekend and on Tuesday for Day 9 of the tournament there will be a number of players in action, including Serena Williams, Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray, all of whom have won previous Slams in Flushing and will be looking to advance.

Serena Williams is back in action after defeating Sloane Stephens in straight sets, while Djokovic is playing his Round 4 match against Marcel Granollers after defeating Joao Sousa and Granollers  comes into the match after defeating Tim Smyczek and both Djokovic and Murray are on course to play each other. Williams will be a heavy favorite against Carla Suarez Navarro after defeating Stephens and she is looked at as the favorite on the women's side of the draw for 2013 after winning last year.

Williams is back into the quarterfinal round after previously losing to Stephens at the Australian Open and now she took some revenge after defeating Stephens in Queens in straight sets. One player that will not be around will be Roger Federer after he lost in three sets 7-6 (3), 6-3, 6-4 by to 19th-seeded Tommy Robredo, keeping Federer and Nadal from meeting in the quarters at the Slam and it also marks the first time that he has not made it through in over a decade.

Federer looked old and off his game against Robredo, who has lost 10 straight career matches to Federer and had never been able to defeat him until Monday night. Federer did not look like the player that has won 17 slams and five US Open's and now a match between him and Rafael Nadal will be denied in a slam yet again. Federer has not been as dominant this year as he has been in the past and it marks the first time in a decade that he has not made at least one major final.

Federer was seeded seventh at the Open and now Nadal looks ready to make it back to the finals after not playing last year and winning back in 2010. Nadal has been undefeated on hard courts this year and has won back to back tournaments on the surface for the first time in his career. After missing out on the Open last year and losing early at Wimbledon, Rafa looks strong and could be the favorite to win the US Open.
