Serena Williams is once again looking like the favorite to win the U.S. Open after taking care of fellow American Sloane Stephens and now she is into the quarterfinals along with Victoria Azarenka, who defeated her in their last meeting, while on Monday night Roger Federer lost in the fourth round for the first time at a slam in a decade.
Williams looked strong throughout the match and after some early trouble she took the second set easily and won over Stephens 6-4, 6-1 and avenged her loss in the Australian Open from earlier in the year. Williams won all but one of the final nine games and her match lasted only 40 minutes and improved to 64-4 this year on tour. She has won eight tournaments on tour and has been looking very strong all year and a second grand slam in Queens could be in her future.
After asking around to some friends, we got answers from 30 people about the best looking tennis players on tour, Williams won out over the rest in that race as well, defeating Maria Sharapova, Victoria Azarenka, Ana Ivanovic and Caroline Wozniacki. The results ended up being Williams in first with 13 votes, Sharapova second with seven, Azarenka with four, Wozniacki with three and Ivanovic with one.
