NBA Free Agent Rumors: Mike Bibby Works Out With San Antonio Spurs As Rasual Butler Signs Contract With Indiana Pacers

The NBA offseason is starting to move towards training camps and the preseason and as teams are trying to fill out invites on their roster, one veteran may get a chance to play, as Mike Bibby will be working out with the San Antonio Spurs for minicamp.

According to Pro Basketball Talk, Bibby is getting a workout chance with the Spurs and could end up being an end of the bench option for the team after playing with the Knicks two years ago. Bobby played in 39 games and scored just 2.9 points, but he could provide solid minutes as a veteran and could be nice depth at guard for the Spurs. The team obviously has Tony Parker at the point and Bibby will have to get past someone in Nando De Colo, Cory Joseph and Patty Mills to get minutes depending on how the roster shakes out.

Bibby wants to play at least one more season in the league and after not playing last year, it appears the Spurs will be his best shot after playing for 14 seasons. Bibby is a solid veteran and while he is getting up there in age, he could give good minutes to the team to help Parker and the rest of the bench.

According to Pro Basketball Talk, Rasual Butler has signed a non-guaranteed deal with the Pacers and he could be an option for the team in training camp. Butler will get a chance to make the roster after playing for the Clippers in 2010 and the Hornets in 2009 and he played in all 82 games over that span. He has played for five teams in his career and with the Pacers having just 12 played on the bench with contracts right now, Butler could be a fit.

The Pacers re-signed David West and traded for Luis Scola, but they will need more on the bench to play deep in the playoffs and after playing for the team in the summer league, they have given him a chance. Butler previously played in the D-League, averaging 17.8 points in 31 games for Tulsa, and now he will get a chance to play for an NBA roster spot.
