The Baltimore Ravens are Super Bowl champions coming into this season after defeating the San Francisco 49ers in the Superdome and now the team will open the year against the Denver Broncos on Thursday night for the first matchup of the season.
The roster has some high turnover from last year and plenty of new faces, but Torrey Smith, Joe Flacco and Ray Rice still remain and those names will be the ones to carry the team through their opening schedule and hopefully back to the playoffs. The team lost players to retirement, cuts and free agency, including Ray Lewis, Ed Reed and Dannell Ellerbe and now they must rebound and they are hoping to not end up like the Giants, who missed the playoffs after winning the Super Bowl.
Joe Flacco has a fat new contract, while Rice appears to be one of the best running backs in football and especially fantasy football. After playing the Broncos, the team will host the Cleveland Browns for a divisional matchup and then will play the Houston Texans at home before travelling to play the Buffalo Bills. The team then travels to Miami and then hosts Green Bay in an anticipated matchup before playing the Steelers for the first time on the road.
The team has a bye in Week 8 before playing Cleveland again and then they will play the Bengals, winner of the wild card the past two seasons before playing the Bears on the road. The team then hosts the Jets, Steelers and Vikings before playing the Lions on Monday night Football. The team then hosts the Pats on Sunday night before finishing the season with the Bengals.
A tough schedule, but one they can handle. Now here is a look at some fantasy names for the Ravens and check HERE and HERE and HERE for some past funny team names for the 2013 season in fantasy.
