Carlo Ancelotti of French soccer club Paris Saint-Germain will manage against his former team when PSG plays a preseason exhibition match against UEFA Champions League finalist Chelsea on July 22 in the first soccer game at the new Yankee Stadium, according to reports.
Chelsea, which beat Barcelona 3-2 in the UEFA Champions League semifinals on Apr. 25, will be playing in the finals at Bayern Munich on May 19 hoping for its first European title. The winner of that match earns a berth at the 2012 FIFA Club World Cup and 2012 UEFA Super Cup.
Chelsea is also coming off of a 2-1 win over Liverpool on Saturday for its seventh FA Cup.
Ancelotti, whom Chelsea hired in June 2009, managed the Blues to the Premier League-FA Cup double in his first season, and was then fired two hours after a second-place finish in the league last May. PSG hired him on Dec. 30.
PSG has two games left in its Ligue 1 season and is competing with Montpellier for the title.
Chelsea will open its U.S. tour on July 18 at the Seattle Sounders. After its match against PSG in July, the Blues play the Major League Soccer All-Stars on July 25 in Chester, Pa.
Liverpool, along with Tottenham and Aston Villa, also has a preseason U.S. tour.
