Anticipation of Chicago Bulls guard Derrick Rose's return has been building ever since being medically cleared last season, and with each passing day more encouraging news has been coming from within the franchise.
Bulls' general manager Gar Forman is eager to see what the new and improved Rose looks like when he takes the court in full five-on-five scrimmages in less than a month but to him it's more about the bigger picture on what could possibly be a make-or-break season for his current roster.
"[Rose] seems like he's doing great feels good strong he's been in contact with us on a regular basis so everything has been positive'' Forman said of Rose's offseason. "I'm just anxious like everyone is not only to see [Rose] but see all of our guys together.
"Obviously we've struggled some with injuries the last few years. I want to see this group get an opportunity to stay healthy and play together.''
The concept of having their core guys on the court has eluded the team for the last three seasons.
Rose missed the entire season last year as he continued rehabbing from a torn ACL in his left knee suffered in last year's playoffs. He was medically cleared and started practice in five-on-five situations in February and was even rumored to making a late season return that even carried over into the playoffs.
As rumors of a playoff return spread, Rose's absence on the court infuriated many apart of the teams fan base and led to criticism during the Bulls' postseason run.
The Chicago Tribune is reporting that Rose, who is set to attend training camp in late September after missing last season following knee surgery, is set to travel to Asia Sept. 4-16 for his second shoe promotional tour this offseason. Before then, he is working out with personal trainer Rob McClanaghan and other NBA players, including Jimmy Butler earlier this week.
