The Seattle Seahawks escaped their Week 1 matchup with a victory. Their schedule sees them facing off against their division rival San Francisco 49ers in Week 2. The NFL schedule is packed with great matchups, but without a doubt, the Seahawks and 49ers will have everybody on the edge of their seats this coming Sunday.
This will be Sunday Night Football's matchup. What else is there to watch on Sunday but football? Last season, both teams didn't meet until Week 7 of the season, but in 2013, these two juggernauts meet early on. Last season, the 49ers took their Week 7 meeting in a very tight ball game dictated by defense. San Francisco won by a touchdown 13-6. However, their Week 16 meeting saw completely different results as the Seahawks pounded the 49ers, making Colin Kaepernick and the Niners' defense look extremely human.
So far this season, the schedule heavily favors the Seahawks. They escaped with a 12-7 victory over the Carolina Panthers. Though a blowout was expected, the Panthers' defense held Russell Wilson and Marshawn Lynch in check. Wilson had a great passing game, but they only let the Seahawks finish in the end zone once in the entire game.
The Seahawks will surely have their hands full with the 49ers offense. It might have only been Week 1, but the 49ers' offense gelled like it was 2012 and they were playing the New York Jets. They dropped 34 points on the Green Bay Packers, but they should be careful since their defense surrendered 28 points.
This is probably one of the more pivotal matchups of the week being that it's a divisional matchup. Others include the New York Jets and New England Patriots kicking off Week 2. The Manning Bros will be facing off at 4:30 p.m. ET on Sunday, providing great entertainment before the Seahawks vs. 49ers game. The Minnesota Vikings and Chicago Bears also meet up in a divisional matchup, but it just doesn't quite reach the level of the 49ers vs. Seahawks from CenturyLink Field. It will be the first game in Seattle this season, so get ready to hear the fans yelling through the television on Sunday night.
Game time and TV schedules will be posted later in the week.
