As the Atlanta Braves look to zero in on their playoff run as the 2013 season comes to a close. But we bring a sneak peak at the interleague matchups the Braves will host in 2014.
The Boston Red Sox are the first team to visit Atlanta as they travel to Turner Field on May 26 and May 27. The Red Sox have been tough cookies after making pivotal acquisitions that helped them empty out their payroll in 2013. After signing role players like Mike Napoli, Shane Victorino and trading for Jake Peavy, the Red Sox find themselves playing great baseball at the right time as they are in possession of the best record in the MLB standings.
Exactly a week later, the Braves get ready to host the Seattle Mariners on June 3 and 4 as the two will hook up for a two-game series. The Mariners made some noise during the offseason, but they are currently just one game from officially being eliminated from contention in the A.L. West. They have a lot of improvements to make if they want to compete against the Oakland Athletics in that division.
Speaking of the A's, they will visit Turner Field for a three-game series from Aug. 15-17. The A's are currently the kings of the A.L. West. The Rangers have struggled as of late and Oakland has not hesitated to take advantage of these struggles. Maybe the Braves might want to wear different hats for this home series as both teams wear A's on their caps. It might confuse non-baseball fans. Expect a lot of people to ask why both teams have A's on their helmets.
The Los Angeles Angeles bring their dynamic offense to town, also for a three-game set from June 13-15. They have been the biggest disappointment in the 2013 season after their acquisitions of Albert Pujols in 2012 and Josh Hamilton in 2013. Neither move landed the Angels in the playoffs as both Pujols and Hamilton have struggled for their own reasons in 2013.
It should be a great show in Atlanta during the 2014 season as the schedule provides exciting matchups filled with superstars and great teams.
