With ampule amount of funds they'll have sitting around next summer, the Los Angeles Lakers may have their main free agent targets being LeBron James and Carmelo Anthony.
However there may be another option to consider if Chicago Bulls' forward Luol Deng hits the free agent market. It was reported Tuesday morning that talks between Deng and Chicago on a new contract extension had broken down, thus risk losing their All-Star forward after becoming an unrestricted free agent next summer according to sources with direct knowledge of what's transpiring.
There have been rumors all season and around the NBA Draft that the Bulls were even looking to trade Deng. It seems Deng wouldn't return to Chicago unless there were new developments in their talks, and it could be possible he could become a target for the Lakers.
Deng, 28, is considered one the better defenders in the league, and he's pretty efficient offensively as well with career averages of 16.0 points and 6.4 rebounds.
His unselfish demeanor would hold well with Kobe Bryant. In 2007, Bryant reportedly vetoed a trade that would have sent him to the Bulls because he wanted to play with Deng, who was reportedly included in the trade package being sent back to Los Angeles for Bryant.
