The Aaron Hernandez murder case has now moved to superior court after the former New England Patriots tight end was arraigned last week on first degree murder charges and after he was indicted for the shooting of Odin Lloyd, he is now being looked at in connection with a double murder from last summer.
According to Pro Football Talk, Hernandez is being investigated by a grand jury for a second time and this one has to do with a possible connection to a double murder that occurred in Boston last summer that was unsolved. Reports came out earlier in the year that Hernandez was at the same club with two men, Safiro Furtado and Daniel Abreu, who were later killed in a drive-by shooting. No charges were filed against Hernandez and the murder is still unsolved, but now it appears that a grand just will look into the case.
Hernandez was indicted by a grand jury in the Odin Lloyd murder and now he could be charges or indicted in this one if the evidence shows that he had something to do with it. The two men were killed in a drive by style shooting and survivors of the crime say that a gray or silver SUV with Rhode Island plates was where the bullets came from. Police found a car with a similar description at the house of Hernandez's uncle and reports came out that he was seen at the same nightclub on the same night as the two men and that they had a dispute with a group that Hernandez was with.
Lloyd was found dead in June less than a mile from the home where Hernandez lives with his girlfriend Shayanna Jenkins and he was arrested a week later by police for the crime. Hernandez was initially agitated with police when they questioned him about it and a report from the Boston Globe that came out earlier in the summer speculated that the death of Lloyd may have been connected to knowledge that he had of Hernandez's involvement in the crimes.
According to the AP, two men will be called to testify before the grand jury regarding the murders, including Alexander Bradley and John Alcorn. The report says that Bradley is involved in another suit with Hernandez, alleging that he shot him and left him for dead and now he has an eye injury and he has already not appeared at the hearing he was supposed to be at and an arrest warrant was issued.
The other man is connected to Thaddeus Singleton III, who was married to Hernandez' cousin Tanya and died before police could speak with him. Tanya is being held in custody and has been denied bail after she refused to testify before the grand jury into Lloyd and she was granted immunity and still decided not to testify. Hernandez could be pegged for those murders if evidence is found and the gun was found in that case but the murder weapon in Lloyd's death.
