Peyton Manning is considered to be one of the greatest quarterbacks of all-time and while many don't see too many other records he could accomplish after setting so many already, his performance in Week 1 was fantastic and after tying the record with seven touchdown passes against the Ravens, it was no surprise to see him named AFC offensive player of the week.
According to Pro Football Talk, Manning was named as the award getter for Week 1 on offense in the AFC after passing for 462 yards and seven scores against the Super Bowl champs. The report says that he has won the award for the 24th time in his career, which is the top number of any player at his position and his performance tied a record that hasn't gone down in over 40 years.
Manning was fantastic on Thursday night in the 49-27 win over the Super Bowl champions and he embarrassed the secondary with two touchdown passes each to Wes Welker, Julius Thomas and Demaryius Thomas and he has also set records for "four, five and six touchdown pass" games and now he is the top scoring player in all of fantasy football this season.
Manning is on pace for over 100 touchdowns and while that obviously won't happen, that's pretty amazing that he is on pace for it. Manning is coming back for his second season with the Broncos after coming back from four neck surgeries and he is looking much better than he did at the tail end of last season and Manning said his neck and his arm feel much stronger than they did last year.
