After getting his first career win in the season opener against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last Sunday, New York Jets rookie quarterback Geno Smith will face a tough opponent in the New England Patriots for Week 2 during Thursday Night Football at 8:25 p.m. ET.

Smith hardly played stellar in his NFL debut but still managed to lead the Jets to a very close 18-17 win over Tampa Bay. On Thursday he'll get a good education lesson in his first exposure to Bill Belichick and Tom Brady, but remains up to take them on.
"I embrace the challenge," Smith said. "I know coach Belichick is one of the masterminds in this league. I have a ton of respect for him and his team. I expect everything, every single look. I will appreciate it because it will help me out in the future. Every single look I get from here on out is going to help me out and I look forward to it. I'm going to prepare myself for pretty much anything because that's what you can expect coming from that team."
Until Smith develops into a consistent quarterback, Jets coach Rex Ryan will have to use the same formula that helped make Mark Sanchez a success in his rookie season in 2009, and that's continue to run the ball and play stellar defense.
"My job is day-to-day," Smith said. "I focus on every single day, every single rep. I take it one day at a time and that's all that matters to me. I'm not worried about anything else."
