The Detroit Lions will visit the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday after defeating the Minnesota Vikings last week and after losing in bad fashion to the Rams, quarterback Carson Palmer and company will be looking to rebound when they host the Lions in the desert on Sunday at 4:05 PM on Fox in what could be an exciting game with Calvin Johnson and Larry Fitzgerald.
The Arizona Cardinals started off the season with a tough divisional loss to the St. Louis Rams after taking a lead into the fourth quarter, but head coach Bruce Arians is still excited about his team and this week with the detroit Lions visiting Phoenix, he said that two of the best players in the league will be facing off in Calvin Johnson and Patrick Peterson.

According to Pro Football Talk, Arians spoke with the Arizona Republic about the upcoming matchup with Detroit and the new head coach couldn't help but rave about the potential matchup between his cornerback Patrick Peterson and Lions wideout Calvin Johnson. Arians said that the game on Sunday will feature the best corner and the top wide receiver in the league and while some may argue that players like Darrelle Revis or Richard Sherman are in that spot, but Arians feels Peterson is at the top.
The thing that makes Peterson so good is his blazing speed and he has shown while working special teams and he has scored multiple touchdowns already in his career. The Cardinals will need to focus on Johnson on Sunday, but they also need to improve overall on defense, as they allowed 14 points in the fourth quarter to allow the Rams to win. The Lions also put up some nice offensive numbers in their win over the Vikings, including both Reggie Bush and Matthew Stafford and they likely will be airing it out again on Sunday.
The Cardinals are likely going to air it out plenty themselves with Arians taking over and quarterback Carson Palmer put up 327 yards and two touchdowns and he looked good working with Larry Fitzgerald, who had no help last season from the likes of Kevin Kolb and John Skelton. The Cardinals started the season 4-0 last year and ended up with a 5-11 record and now Arians has been tasked with turning things around for a franchise that made it to the Super Bowl not too long ago with Kurt Warner at the helm.

Johnson is considered the best wide receiver in the league and the defense will have plenty to worry about with him, but the real concern for the Cardinals should be their own offense. ESPN.com is reporting that tight end Rob Housler will likely not be playing this week at home against the Lions, as he missed participating in practice with a leg issue and that means he probably won't play since it's late in the week. The team also has prime starters Rashard Mendenhall, Larry Fitzgerald and Andre Roberts listed with injuries and they will need all hands on deck to win against the Lions on Sunday.
