As preparation for the their season-opener against the Miami Heat continues, Chicago Bulls point guard Derrick Rose gave an update on his ACL recovery.
"I think I am a 100 percent," Rose said. "I'm doing almost everything. I'm squatting, running, lifting almost every other day, just being back on the court after you have an ACL injury, you're kind of hesitant at first about how you step, what way you should step, learning how to run, accelerate, accelerate while you run and while you're slowing down. For me, I'm reacting right now where all I have to think about is if I have to get to a spot, I'm going to get there no matter what. It kind of feels good having that feeling again."
Rose just spent the last six days in China and will wrap up his tour in the Philippines before returning and preparing for the upcoming 2013-14 season.
Bulls coach Tom Thibodeau talked about Rose's recovery a few weeks ago, saying that the former MVP was sporting increased range on his jumper and a left-handed floater that he has worked on extensively this offseason.
"What the summer has done is it's given him more time to build confidence and strength in his leg," Thibodeau said in Las Vegas in July. "His entire body is a lot stronger."
Rose missed the entire season last year as he continued rehabbing from a torn ACL in his left knee suffered in last year's playoffs. He was medically cleared and started practice in five-on-five situations in February and was even rumored to making a late season return that even carried over into the playoffs.
As rumors of a playoff return spread, Rose's absence on the court infuriated many apart of the teams fan base and led to criticism during the Bulls' postseason run.
