The NFL schedule in Week 3 has a reunion of sorts, as former head coach Andy Reid will return to Philadelphia for the first time since he was fired by the Eagles, as the Chiefs make the trip East on Thursday night.
Charles and the Chiefs have started the season 2-0, matching the win total from last year already after the team went 2-14 and now the team will get the chance to go 3-0 against an Eagles team that is reeling from their comeback loss to the San Diego Chargers on Sunday in Week 2. Chip Kelly's offense once again worked well after the Week 1 win against the Redskins, but he made some mistakes down the stretch and left too much time on the clock for the Chargers, giving them the chance to get the victory.
Reid was fired by the Eagles after a decade of coaching and he previously led the team to its most successful run, winning 130 games and taking the team to five conference championships in the NFC as well as Super Bowl that they lost to the Patriots. Reid has shown that his team is much improved from last season, as the addition of quarterback Alex Smith in a trade has been essential to the turnaround. After an earlier injury scare, Charles looks ready to lead the offense and he could put up big numbers against an Eagles defense that looked porous last week against the Chargers.
Charles is one of the top fantasy players in the NFL and one of the best backs in the league and he will face off against another one in LeSean McCoy on Sunday. The Eagles have put up plenty of yards in their first two games and have averaged nearly 500 over two, but now the Chiefs defense will get the chance to see the team in action. Charles said that he wants to win the game for his coach and he will do his best after he gained 55 yards on 16 carries against the Cowboys and he also made eight catches for 48 yards and one score in the victory on Sunday.
Charles will be integral to any win against the Eagles and if the team shuts him down on Sunday, the Chiefs at least have some weapons in the passing game with Smith and Dwayne Bowe. The Chiefs are ranked in the top 10 in both passing and rushing yards allowed on average after playing the Jaguars and the Cowboys and their toughest test so far will come on Sunday as they go for 3-0.
