Fantasy Drops Week 3: Brandon Weeden, Josh Freeman and Sidney Rice Busts As Phillip Rivers and Marlon Brown Best Pick Ups

The fantasy football season is heading into Week 3 after a great weekend of games and with some fantasy owners starting to freak out at being 0-2, don't fret, it's not time to panic yet but one course of action could be to drop some players that have been busts, including names like Brandon Weeden, Josh Freeman and Sidney Rice.

Weeden is one of the top players to drop after his start to the season and while he has not played well, it also is due to an injury, as he is likely to miss time after suffering a hand injury. According to ESPN.com, Weeden could be out for the next game for the Browns after injuring his thumb in the loss Sunday to the Baltimore Ravens, after which he was replaced by Jason Campbell, who could get the start in his absence.

Weeden did not get off to a good start through two games and now the Browns are 0-2 under head coach Rob Chudzinski this season. The team also has Brian Hoyer on the roster and he could get the chance to start as well, per the report. Weeden was hurt on his thumb and the team will wait until they can see how it heals before deciding whether to start someone else on Sunday. The Browns have struggled on offense and the line play as been rough, with Weeden being sacked a double-digit amount of times already this season.

Weeden ended up getting x-rays that did not come back positive and now he will be left playing the waiting game to see if he is healed up enough to play. Weeden threw for 227 yards on Sunday, but the offense once again had trouble sustaining drives and getting into the endzone and now it seems that any chance of Weeden being a fantasy option is over, He should be one of the top drops and one player that is interesting to check out heading into Week 3 is Philip Rivers of the Chargers. Weeden passed for just 289 yards against the Dolphins in week 1 and now he has three picks and just one touchdown on the year.

Rivers was overlooked by many fantasy owners at the start of the season after having a rough 2012, but after two weeks he appears to be a very good fantasy option, as he has thrown for seven touchdowns and just one interception through two games. Although the Chargers are 1-1, Rivers was fantastic against the eagles throwing for 419 yards and three touchdowns while also completing over 75 percent of his passes. This was the Rivers many players remember and he is available in over 70 percent of ESPN leagues and could be a nice backup option or starter if Weeden was the quarterback.

Josh Freeman has not been good either and he could be on the verge of losing his starting job if the Buccaneers and the quarterback does not play well against the Patriots. He has some issues with the coaching staff and that could come to a head later on this season depending on how this week goes by.

Sidney Rice came into the season a bit banged up and his production has shown that, as he has had just eight targets this season with three catches and he has been a bust so far. Marlon Brown for the Ravens is a nice short term option, as he has stepped up since Jacoby Jones was injured and could put up better numbers. The offense has been okay without Rice, but if he doesn't start producing soon, fantasy owners will get rid of him.
