Oakland Raiders Rumors: Los Angeles Move Possible As Coliseum Stadium Has Sewage Issues Again For Athletics

Sep 18, 2013 11:22 AM EDT

The Oakland Raiders have been a Los Angeles team before and there is a chance it could happen again, as the O.co Coliseum once again came down with some sewage issues for the Oakland Athletics and LA Angels during their game on Tuesday.

According to USA Today, after a previous incident earlier in the year, sewage issues came up again on Tuesday, as there was a backup in the seventh inning in the dugout and workers from the stadium had to come and clean things up before the game ended and the players came back into the clubhouse. This is another incident after what happened earlier in the summer when the Mariners and the Athletics had to use the Raiders locker room after the game, as sewage backed up and went into both clubhouse areas as well as offices and other rooms on the bottom level.

The Coliseum is now the only one that has an NFL team and an MLB team sharing after the Marlins got their new park and now that another sewage issue has come up, the idea of the Raiders and Athletics getting some new stadium digs should come up again as well. Many have speculated that the Raiders could move to LA if the issues don't change, especially due to the fact that they are trying to find a way to build a new stadium, but have so far been unsuccessful.

The Athletics ended up winning the game 2-1, but that didn't stop the damage and the USA Today report says that the issue came from one toilet and that workers said it was not as bad as the original issue from earlier in the summer. The Athletics have been trying to move into a new stadium as well for some time, as they want to move to San Jose but have so far been rebuffed by the MLB territorial rules, something that held up the Nationals and Orioles for a while as well.

The USA Today report says that the A's making the playoffs could cause more problems at the stadium, as there could be up to 10,000 more fans than usual in the postseason. The Raiders have long wanted to be out of the stadium to avoid having to share it with a baseball team and with the 49ers getting a new state of the art facility, the team also would like to get in on the action.

While a move to LA isn't happening now, it's something that could be considered if the stadium deal does not go through for Oakland.
