This one could be a walk in the park for the Cardinals as they face an old Roy Oswalt. At 36 years of age, it is clear Oswalt's best days are in the previous decade. In 2013, Oswalt is 0-6 with a whopping 7.71 ERA after allowing 22 runs in 25.2 innings. Oswalt did manage to drop his ERA a couple of points in his last start after going 4.2 innings, allowing two earned runs on seven hits and a walk, while striking out five batters.
Oswalt will face a youngster, Michael Wacha is only 22 years of age, playing in his first season with the Cardinals. He's done a great job for them in his brief stint in the majors. He's made seven starts and 13 appearances in total. Wacha is 3-1 with a 2.81 ERA, forming part of the great, young pitching talent in the Cardinals' organization.
In his last start, Wacha went five innings, allowing two earned runs on four hits and four walks, though wild, he did strike out seven batters. Wacha took the loss against the Seattle Mariners, his first in the majors.

Adam Wainwright settled down, going 7.2 innings, allowing three earned runs on 10 hits and one walk, while recording eight strikeouts. It was Wainwright's 17th victory of the 2013 season. The Cardinals won 4-3 as Wainwright also helped himself with a 3-3 day at the plate, scoring a run and driving in two.
